At this early stage our prognosis is that both BPP and BC have turned the corner and that a period of gradual growth will ensue. Both these series could end in marginally positive territory by year end.   It must be remembered however that BC represents only some 37% of total estimated investment in building, with the public sector making up most of the difference.  

While the Government has committed to the Infrastructure and Building Programme, uncertainty remains as to delivery.   We have provided a detailed Investment table in the Sensemaking report.

A new home built by Corobrik in Lwandle, Strand is a ‘dream come true’ for disabled resident Angelina Msizi (83) – and a tangible way of showing our support for the rights of women and children. Built on land provided by the Western Cape Department of Human Settlements, Angelina’s house is a part of the Department’s New Siyazama housing project, consisting of 82 units.

The MFA Composite Leading Indicator for the South African Building Industry (CLIBI) recorded a peak of 69 in late 2004. The index dropped to 26 in 2009, reflecting a lower turning point. This building indicator then moved sideways during the next eighteen months. It rose to a level of 33 in the fourth quarter of 2011. The current reading for the first quarter of 2012 is 37. This finding suggests that the long-awaited revival in the South African building industry is presently underway.

Corobrik's clay pavers are defining characteristic of the entire 5km long seafront stretch that is a favourite with those out for a morning  stroll, jogging or taking a late afternoon walk with their dogs.
The swirl pattern and use of Cederburg, Champagne and Burgundy pavers provides continuity along the entire promenade. The iconic whale bone pier echoes the seafront location with its dunes and breaking waves and the choice of colours and texture which perfectly complemented the landscape.
