42 young South Africans are being trained for an economic future in bricklaying and paving after being appointed a service provider for the government’s expanded Public Works programme. The learners will participate in artisan skills training under the skills development programme Youth in Construction using the Corobrik Western Cape building training centre.

We show in this report that the Industry can be redefined as a very large system of some R3 000 billion with an annual investment in Building and Construction alone of some R320 Billion. Some 40 million m2 of new buildings are constructed each year.  Obviously it is a large system, it has critical mass and a good future.
